Department of Defence

Currently there are around 2,900 Australian Defence Force personnel deployed on operations overseas to protect Australia and its national interests. Around 300 personnel are also deployed on security tasks in our maritime protection zone on Operation Resolute.

It is the Deployed Force Support Unit (DFSU) who help prepare these defence members for their deployment. The preparation provided varies from deployment to deployment and is always followed up with support. Briefings are often on things such as quarantine, customs, DG, legal, language, postal, psych, fire and others.

Overall, they ensure deployed Australian Defence Force Personnel are empowered with the knowledge to serve in threat environments around the globe.
